"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it." – Helen Keller
The third Monday in January. Popularly dubbed “Blue Monday,” has gained a reputation as the most depressing day of the year. Post-holiday blues, gloomy weather, and unmet resolutions collide. But what if we chose to view this day differently?
In my coaching work, I see how shifts in perspective can illuminate paths forward. Rather than a day to endure, what if Blue Monday became a quiet call to re-centre, reflect, and realign?
Feeling low is not a failure. It’s feedback. It’s an opportunity to ask: What needs my attention? What could I do today. Just one thing which lifts me or someone else?
A journaling prompt to consider: "What would support look like for me this week?"
From this simple reflection, powerful actions can emerge.
Let Blue Monday be less about sadness and more about awareness. Growth begins in the pauses.
